Installation procedure for VPCZ21 drivers and utilities

Please read this if you are installing a clean version of Windows 7 64-bit Edition

  • You must connect the Power Media Dock (docking station) to your notebook when installing the 64-bit driver “AMD Radeon HD6650M & Intel Mobile HD graphics”. This driver won’t install if the Power Media Dock is not connected. Note that the driver “AMD Radeon HD6650M & Intel Mobile HD graphics” is a hybrid graphics driver for both the AMD and Intel graphics adapters. If you have purchased a VAIO VPCZ21 notebook series without the Power Media Dock, please install the standalone 64-bit driver “Intel Mobile HD graphics”.
  • You must install “ALL” drivers and utilities labelled 64-bit or 32/64-bit that are available in the Preinstalled download section of your model. Failure to install “ALL” drivers and utilities may cause some features (for e.g.: Fn-hotkeys, etc.) not to operate properly.

Service Pack 1 Windows 7 32 Bits

I have a Sony Vaio Model VGN-CR420E that was recently updated from Windows Vista Home to Windows 7 Professional. My laptop is a 32-bit. I've donwloaded all the respective drivers from the Sony Esupport Website, in an attempt to get my hot keys to once again, function and upon attempting to install the drivers I get error prompts constantly telling me 'This Update Can Only Run On Windows Vista'.

Comically enough, some ran fine, others do not! Here is the list of drivers they tell me I need to download:

Sony Vaio Drivers Windows 7 64 Bit

  1. Audio Driver (most recent) ---- Worked fine after install so didn't have to reinstall this driver
  2. Video Driver (most recent) ---- Worked fine after install so didn't have to reinstall this driver
  3. Sony® Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver ---- Installed and ran it no problems
  4. Sony® Shared Library Update --- ERROR will not run even in compatibility mode for Windows Vista
  5. Sony® Setting Utilites Update --- ERROR will not run even in compataiblity mode for Windows Vista
  6. VAIO® Event Services Update (If available) --- Not sure if this one worked, never received an error or any confirmation it worked
  7. VAIO® Launcher Software (S1/S2/AV Buttons) ---- Error will not run evein in compatibility mode for Windows Vista

As metioned; I attempted to run the drivers in compatiblity mode for Windows Vista and the error still replicates. I tried running it under compability mode for Windows Vista SP 1 and SP 2 and still, the drivers will not install. I know these are the correct drivers from sony, as I had my computer self detected on their site and selected the proper upgraded OS.

What gives Microsoft??? Why can't I get drivers to even install in compatiblity mode?
