Xp Install I386 Asms Error

Hello there, I'm Ryan.
  • Apr 27, 2008  The ASMS file (directory) is in the 1st level directory of I386 on the CD. This is also a valid OEM CD with the Hologram. The system has two CD drives; one is a CD drive and the other is a DVD/CD RW drive.

  • Then I encountered the error: Windows XP. Error: sxs.dll: syntax error in manifest. Error message. Windows XP / Install, upgrade.
  • May 12, 2008  I reburnt my CD 'closing' the session and it worked after hours of trying other things. It appears the newer DVD players have trouble with CD's that.
  • XP Pro install: fatal error on setup because of. 'Installation Failed: E: I386 asms. Whereby you can copy the XP files to the install disk vs.
  • While doing a clean install of XP w/SP-3, after the files have been copied and the computer has restarted, the installation fails.

One day in.. August? I tried to reinstall Windows XP CLEANLY (not a repair, whatever that is). So I format the C: drive and you know everything goes fine until I am met with that error.

Windows Xp Install Error I386 Asms

Maybe the computer's cd-rom drive I used to burn the iso for windows is corrupt. I'll try making a new cd on another computer. Anyone have any suggestions? I checked the cd I've been using and it has the i386 asms on it with the following folders: /1 /2 /10 /52 /60 /70 /1000 /5100 /6000 /7000 Edited by robusto, 18 October 2007 - 02:18 PM.

I have literally tried about everything I can that I found online, nothing is working.

File Asms On Windows Xp

The registry editor or device manager will not open.
Setting the CD/DVD drive in the BIOS second and HDD first doesn't work.
I burned the contents of i586(where asms is) onto a separate disc and that doesn't work.
I tried entering every letter repeatedly, that doesn't work.
I tried to boot off of a USB, nodo.
Inserting the CD when asked doesn't work. However it does display a CD icon on the mouse and the drive light glows..

Many people say use a secondary drive, My computer only has 1.
Then there are those answers about replacing drives or opening it up and all that, I can't do that the issue is.

Asms

-------------------------------
And that is not the only thing that has happened since this install. Even when the XP disc is inside and the CD Drive is set to boot first, it no longer displays 'Enter any key to boot off CD' message. All it does now it have a little blinking line for a while, and it goes to the HDD. The light is on when it does that. I even inserted a Windows 2000 disc and it doesn't boot from that. WTH happened?!

This computer is a Compaq Evo D510 Tower I believe; Although I am not sure. It has 512 MB of memory, NVIDIA Vanta Graphics card, Intel Pentium 4, and it is refurbished with WinXP was preinstalled. It has a XP and 2000 key on the machine.

I386 Asms Error Message

System info:Compaq Presario 5000, Intel celeron,600mhz,40ghd,256mb and operating system was WinME. I first upgrade to WIN XP-PRO and all was fine for a week I then decided to wipe the HD and remove the partition and then reinstall winXP-PRO. This is when my problem began. During this new installation, it gets to the 'windows' installation the error message then pops up which read 'Installation failed: D:I386ASMS,error message :Incorrect function.
'Fatal error, one of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.
I am unable to pass this point, so what is my next move
